Change is possible
What is so special is that we already have everything we need to be able to change. Often we can access our "inner resources" on our own. But sometimes we can benefit from assistance. A mental health professional can help release this potential that is within us from whatever is blocking it, and engage our inner resources to facilitate the process of change.
-
"The resources people need to change are already within them."
— Milton H. EricksonEvery person is unique, and there is no single therapeutic approach that works for everyone. An integrative approach combines evidence-based methods and techniques from different therapeutic modalities, allowing treatment to be tailored to your individual needs, personality, and goals.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms, integrative therapy considers the whole person—thoughts, emotions, body, relationships, and life experiences. Together, we explore the underlying patterns that may be keeping you stuck while building on your existing strengths and resources.
Depending on your needs, sessions may include elements of counselling, psychotherapy, EMDR, hypnotherapy, mindfulness, or other evidence-based interventions. The aim is to support lasting change, greater self-awareness, and improved emotional well-being.
-
"Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence."
— Peter A. LevineEMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help process distressing memories and experiences. It is widely used in the treatment of trauma but can also be effective for anxiety, panic, grief, low self-esteem, and other difficulties linked to overwhelming life events.
During an EMDR session, you briefly focus on a distressing memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements. This helps the brain process the memory in a different way, reducing its emotional intensity and allowing it to become part of your life story without continuing to overwhelm you.
Many people notice a significant reduction in emotional distress after only a few sessions, enabling them to move forward with greater resilience and confidence.

"When the imagination and the will are in conflict, it is always the imagination which wins."
— Émile Coué
Classical Hypnotherapy
Classical hypnotherapy is an effective therapeutic approach that uses deep relaxation and focused attention (a hypnotic trance) to facilitate positive change. During hypnosis, you remain aware of what is happening while gaining easier access to unconscious patterns, emotions, and beliefs. This makes it possible to address issues that are sometimes difficult to resolve through talking alone.
Hypnotherapy can be effective for a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, pain, sleep difficulties, unwanted habits, and psychosomatic symptoms.
Classical Hypnotherapy for IBS
Gut-directed hypnotherapy is an evidence-based treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Through deep relaxation and targeted hypnotic techniques, it helps regulate the communication between the brain and the digestive system—the so-called gut-brain axis. As a result, symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and altered bowel habits can be significantly reduced.
Many people experience fewer symptoms, greater physical comfort, and an improved quality of life after completing a course of treatment. Hypnotherapy can be used as a stand-alone treatment or alongside medical care.

“Love rests on two pillars: surrender and autonomy. Our need for togetherness exists alongside our need for separateness.”
― Esther Perel
Understanding Couples Therapy
Couples therapy is designed to address current issues and work towards resolving long-standing dysfunctional patterns. Depending on your situation, we can focus on a single issue or delve deeper into the root causes behind your challenges. This process aims to create lasting change in your relationship dynamics, improving satisfaction and commitment while reducing distress. What to Expect
Couples therapy provides a safe and supportive environment where both of you can express your viewpoints with a neutral third party present. We focus on the interactions between you, helping you navigate through conflicting perspectives and high levels of distress. It's common for one partner to be more enthusiastic about therapy or feel more hopeful than the other.Areas of Focus
Therapy may be beneficial for couples facing:
• Unhelpful communication habits
• Emotional disconnection
• Trust or commitment issues
• Attachment insecurities
• Sexual intimacy problems
• Parenting style conflicts
• Financial disagreements
• Unequal decision-making
• Perceived unfairness in household chore division
Couples therapy is a journey towards better understanding, improved communication, and a stronger, more resilient relationship. -
“Neuroscience research shows that the only way we can change the way we feel is by becoming aware of our inner experience and learning to befriend what is going inside ourselves.”
― Bessel A. van der KolkIntegrative Approach: Embracing the Somatic Dimension
In my practice, I embrace an integrative approach that places a significant focus on the somatic aspect. As a certified yoga teacher, my aim is to guide you in establishing a profound connection with yourself through your body.Connecting with Yourself Through Your Body
During moments of stress, it's common for individuals to lose touch with their physical sensations, leading to shallow breathing and heightened anxiety.
Through a blend of yoga postures, meditation, breathwork, and relaxation techniques, we can effectively slow down the breath, increase heart rate variability, and alleviate stress. Yoga provides a gentle and secure method for you to reconnect with your body, allowing you to embrace every aspect of your physical sensations and release past trauma.
By engaging in these practices, you can foster both mental health and physical well-being, nurturing a harmonious balance within yourself.

Online
If an in-office meeting is not possible (distance, lack of time, illness, lockdown, etc.), we can also work together effectively online. The advantages of online counseling and coaching are accessibility and flexibility. Many people feel confident and comfortable in their home environment, and many feel safer and more free to express themselves online. Research shows that the effectiveness of online counseling and coaching is comparable to "in-office" care.
Outdoor Coaching
If you want to get moving, outdoor coaching is also an effective way. You can choose from different locations in Amsterdam where we will walk during the session. During outdoor coaching, the symbolism of the environment is constantly involved in the process. You are an organic part of your environment: of nature and also of the inhabited world. Everything around you is a mirror of the inner self and provides constant insight and inspiration to help you advance on your path.
